Monitoring
Water Wells

What is monitoring well drilling?

Monitoring wells, sometimes called observation wells, are used to observe groundwater levels and flow conditions. These wells are used to determine groundwater quality and evaluate the hydraulic properties of water-bearing strata. The monitoring well gathers information that can be used to obtain water from productive zones containing good-quality water. These wells may also screen or provide pathways for moving poor-quality water, pollutants, and contaminants. Monitoring well networks are an early warning system designed to detect contamination as it enters the groundwater system. The system allows the discovery of the source of the contamination and provides opportunities to prevent contamination.
